BERKELEY - J.J. Arrington, the nation's leading rusher with 2,018 yards last season, was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals with the 12th pick of the second round of the NFL Draft Saturday.

Arrington, the 44th overall selection, was the fourth running back taken after Auburn's Ronnie Brown, Cedric Benson of Texas and Cadillac Williams from Auburn.

Recipient of the Pop Warner Award as the top senior on the West Coast, Arrington earned first team Associated Press and All-Pac-10 honors in 2004. The only tailback in Division I-A to rush for at least 100 yards in every game, he smashed several school records, including most yards in a season, most consecutive 100-yard games (12) and most rushing touchdowns (15).
