Cal-Oregon State Game Notes

*Cal is 3-1 against Oregon State this season. All four games have been decided by two or fewer runs. The Bears won both games in Berkeley (April 8-9) 2-0. Oregon State defeated Cal 4-2 in Corvallis (April 28).
*Senior Lindsay James is the only Bear to have recorded a hit in all four of Cal's postseason contests. She was 1-for-2 against Illinois State (5/19), 1-for-3 vs. Nebraska (5/20), 1-for-3 vs. Nebraska (5/21) and 1-for-4 against Oregon State (5/26).
*Junior Alex Sutton has scored in three of the Bears' four postseason games. Against Illinois State, Sutton scored Cal's lone run on an RBI from senior Haley Woods. In the Regional Championship against Nebraska (5/21), Sutton touched home in the Bears' 6-1 win. Against Oregon State (5/26), Sutton scored in the top of the first.
*Senior Kristina Thorson has posted a 0.50 ERA through Cal's four postseason games. She has given up just two earned runs (four overall) through 28 innings. She has struck out 51 batters in the four games.
*Thorson is just one of three Cal pitchers to record 100 wins and 1,000 strikeouts in her career. After Friday's game, Thorson has 102 and 1,060. Former Olympian Michele Granger (1989-93) had 119 and 1,640. Jocelyn Forest (1999-02) has 103 and 1,203.
*The win pushes Cal's NCAA Regional record to 53-28.
*The win improves Cal head coach Diane Ninemire's record in NCAA regional play to 50-23. She has taken the Bears to the regionals in all 19 seasons of her head coaching career.
*Cal is playing for its eighth consecutive trip to the Women's College World Series, while Oregon State is aiming for the program's first trip to Oklahoma City.
