The California women's golf team, who moved up to No. 5 in this week's Golfweek rankings, will play in their final Bay Area tournament of the season, competing at the Juli Inkster Invitational at Almaden Golf Course in San Jose. The tournament runs Monday, Feb. 28 - Tuesday, March 1.
The Bears come into the tournament after a decisive victory last week at the Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford. The team won the title by 18 strokes over host Stanford. Junior Emily Childs earned the individual medalist honors, her second tournament victory of the season.
The Bears will play in their final Bay Area tournament of the season this week when they play at the par-72 6,223 yard Almaden Golf and Country Club course in San Jose. The Bears have won the tournament each of the last two years. Last season, the Bears were in third after two rounds and made a huge comeback on the final day to win the team title.
Competing this year will be Colorado, Colorado State Univ., Fresno State, Hawaii, Oregon, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and Washington. The teams will play 36 holes, with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, also with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
