BERKELEY, Calif. - Today's 55-point victory over Washington State is the largest margin of victory for Cal over a Pac-10 opponent.The previous record of 35 was set in a 97-62 home victory over Arizona, Jan. 26, 1987.
Cal's 99 points today are a new Haas Pavilion Bears women's basketball record, breaking the old mark of 96 posted against Harvard (96-54) Dec. 2, 2006.
Devanei Hampton became the 19th 1000-point scorer in Cal history with 15:50 remaining in the game. She scored on a move in the post on the right side of the basket to record points 1000 and 1001. Hampton finished with 13 points today, bringing her career total to 1003.
Ashley Walker tallied her Pac-10-leading seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds. She has 27 for her career. Walker also moved into ninth place in Cal history in scoring with 1174 points. She surpassed Amanda Ray (1985-88), who recorded 1172 points.
Cal's 11 turnovers today are a season low.
The Bears converted a season-high 10 three-pointers, making 10-of-16 attempts from beyond the arc. Lauren Greif tied her career high of four treys in a game, sinking 4-of-5 attempts. Three times as a freshman she made four three pointers. Her previous season high this year was three.
Cal's 11-2 overall record is its best since the 1991-92 team opened with a 14-2 mark. The Bears haven't began the Pac-10 season at 2-0 since 1991-92 squad started conference play 4-0.
