BERKELEY - The Cal Football team wraps up the first segment of its preseason practices Monday night when the Golden Bears hold a workout from 7-9:30 p.m. on Witter Field.
Tuesday morning, the team will load up in buses and make the 90-minute ride to Turlock for 11 days on the Cal State Stanislaus campus. The first practice at Turlock will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday night.
The first session in pads will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. and scrimmages are set for Saturday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. The Bears return to Berkeley Aug. 24.
Fan Appreciation Day: Cal will hold its annual Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, Aug. 26 form 12-3 p.m. on Kleeberger Field, just north of Memorial Stadium. Both parking and admission to the event are free.

Tickets Available Online: Cal fans now have the convenience of purchasing tickets to Cal events online. Simply click on the tickets icon at www.calbears.com and follow the instructions. The tickets available online are the same as those available either through 800-GO BEARS or in person at the Athletic Ticket Office.
Golden Bear Notes: Among the new walk-ons to join the team this year is freshman wide receiver Burl Toler out of Bishop O'Dowd High School, Toler's father, Burl, was a linebacker for the Bears from 1974-77 ... Andrew Cameron, who signed with Cal last February, will delay his enrollment until January as he continues to rehabilitate from knee surgery last fall ... through the first two days of practice, head coach Tom Holmoe has praised the shape the players came in at, giving credit to strength and conditioning coach Todd Rice and his program ... redshirt-freshman fullback Pana Faumuina will sit out this season to concentrate on academics ... the Bears participated in a team building day last Thursday afternoon, which was organized through Cal Adventures, among the activities, about 25 players, plus Holmoe and running backs coach Ron Gould, rappelled off the top of the scoreboard on the north end of Memorial Stadium ... Cal's opener vs. Illinois (12:30 p.m.) and the game at UCLA (7:15 p.m.) will both be televised by Fox Sports Net, with several other games likely to be picked up as the season progresses.
