BERKELEY, Calif. - The Cal Athletic Department announced today that three of its games next season have already been selected for either regional or national television by ABC or Fox Sports Net.

Several other games are under consideration, but will not be chosen until approximately 11 days before the date of the games, according to contract provisions between the two networks and the Pac-10 Conference. Those decisions will rest largely on how the match-ups appear during the course of the season depending on how well Cal and/or its opponents are playing at the time, and how much regional or national interest they create.

The first game selected for television is the September 12 home game against Nebraska which will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net. Kickoff in Memorial Stadium will be moved to 4:30 p.m. Pacific time. The game will be televised in the Bay Area by Bay TV as per an existing contract signed between Fox Sports Net and Bay TV prior to its the national network's merger with SportsChannel (now Fox Sports Bay Area).

The next game is Cal's Pac-10 opener against Washington State on September 26 in Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised regionally by ABC Television with kickoff set for 4:00 p.m. Pacific time.

The final game set going into the season is the October 17 game at Washington. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and will be telecast on the Fox Sports Syndication network throughout the West. The local affiliate in the Bay Area hasn't been announced, but it was KICU, Channel 36, last year.
