PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - No. 4 California is in fifth place with a 613 Tuesday after two rounds of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Golden Bears are only one shot behind fourth-place Ohio State, currently ranked No. 13, and seven behind third-place and fifth-ranked Arizona (606).
No. 3 UCLA continued to ride atop the leader board with a score of 579 after shooting a 293 in the second round. No. 6 New Mexico remained in second at 604.
The Bruins' Charlotte Mayorkas extended her first-place hold to seven shots following a minus-two 69 Tuesday. Mayorkas is at minus-seven 135. Tulsa's Julie Tvede is second at 142.
Senior Claire Dury has led the Bears through the first two rounds. Dury carded a 77 in the second round and is 12th at 149. Sophomore Sophia Sheridan is tied for 16th at 151. Senior Anna Temple is tied for 36th at 155, while senior Sarah Huarte rebounded from her opening round of 81 to shoot a 77 in the second round and moved up from a tie for 56th for a tie for 44th (158). Freshman Danielle Nash is tied for 76th at 169.
The final round of the 15-team tournament tees off with a shotgun start Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
