March 25, 2004

East Meadow, NY - Junior Duje Draganja came in fourth in the 50-meter freestyle contest (21.61) at the NCAA Championships. Cal dominated the consolation final in that event with freshman Rolandas Gimbutis finishing 12th (22.13), sophomore Milorad Cavic 14th (22.27) and senior Renato Gueraldi 15th (22.33).

Cal came in fourth in the 400-meter medley relay (3:30.82), thanks to senior Alex Lim, junior Caleb Rowe, Cavic and Draganja. The Golden Bears suffered an unfortunate setback today when their highly-ranked 200-meter freestyle relay team was disqualified in the final.

Junior John Dorr in came in ninth in the consolation final (1:57.80) while senior Jeff Natalizio came in 14th (1:59.71) in the 200-meter individual medley.

Junior diver Louie Gagnet finished 25th in the 1-meter dive with 266.10 points.

Action continues tomorrow and Saturday.
