Release:  10/06/2003

Oct. 6, 2003

This week the team travels to the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at the Riviera Country Club, in Los Angeles. Cal will be sending four of its brightest stars in hopes of bringing back the first major singles and doubles titles of the year.

#54 Catherine Lynch and #90 Nicole Havlicek will get the action started for the Bears in the opening qualifying rounds Tuesday. Lynch will be matched up against Aniela Mojzis of North Carolina, while Havlicek will face Jemina Haywood of Boise State.

The two hope to survive the first two days of competition, so that they can meet up with their teammates #3 Raquel Kops-Jones and last weeks Bulldog Classic Champion Jody Schedt, who both will begin action on Thursday.

In doubles, the duo of Lynch and Havlicek will start out the tournament trying to figure out the Texas Two-Step, as they tangle with Kendall Brooks and Irina Tereschenko of Texas Tech.
