Csikos Becomes Cal's All-Time Leading Scorer In Win

BAKERSFIELD - Senior Emily Csikos scored two goals to become Cal's all-time leading scorer and the No. 5 Bears used a big third quarter to pull away for a 14-7 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win at Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday afternoon.

Csikos entered the day tied with Colette Glinkowski atop Cal's all-time scoring list. Her goal with 4:33 remaining in the first quarter gave her 213 for her career, passing Glinkowski for sole possession of the top spot. Csikos added another score in the third quarter.

Csikos, a three-time All-American, leads the Bears this season with 47 goals.

Freshman Kathleen Menz got her second career start and made 10 saves for the Bears (16-5, 2-3 MPSF), who close out the regular season Friday against No. 2 Stanford in the Big Splash before hosting the MPSF Championships the following weekend.

Ashley Young and Victoria Williams led Cal with three goals apiece.

The Bears led the Roadrunners (12-21, 0-5) just 7-4 at the half but outscored CSUB 4-1 in the third period to take command. Young scored two of her goals in the period and senior Ashley Young 3, Victoria Williams 3, Kelly McKee, Michelle Caron, Chris Baker, Pippa Saunders, Sierra Smiley, Remington Price.
