Nov. 15, 2008

Recap |  Final Stats

Cal's opening touchdown (13:05 left in the first quarter) was its fastest score to open a game since Jahvid Best scored on the first play of the game at Washington State ... Verran Tucker hauled in his third touchdown of the season on that drive and first since the Arizona game

Jahvid Best scored a 65-yard touchdown run in the third quarter - his fourth touchdown run of 65 yards or more this season ... he went over 1,000 career rushing yards (1,103) and tallied 116 in the game (second-best output of the season) ... he was back returning kickoffs for the first time since the Colorado State game - he returned the opening kickoff 51 yards ... Best tallied over 200 all-purpose yards (210) for the fourth time this season

Oregon State's James Rogers scored a touchdown on a kickoff return, the first time an opponent has done so since Minesota's Dominic Jones on Sept. 9, 2006 in Berkeley

Syd'Quan Thompson recorded his fourth INT of the season in the first quarter, and first since the Washington State game ... it was Cal's 18th interception of the season

Oregon State became the third Cal opponent to score a touchdown in the first quarter this year (Maryland had 14 points and Oregon scored a TD but missed the extra point)

Cal's second touchdown came on a lateral from Kevin Riley to Jeremy Ross, who threw it 30 yards to Nyan Boateng ... it was Ross' first career touchdown toss and Boateng's fifth touchdown reception of the season (and fifth in last seven games) ... LaReylle Cunningham was also instrumental on the drive, hauling in his first catch (35 yards) since the Arizona game to sustain the drive
