ANN ARBOR, Mich. - For the third time this season, the Cal field hockey team battled a Top 20 school to the wire, but fell short by one goal. This time, the Golden Bears lost to No. 20 Ohio University, 2-1, in overtime Thursday afternoon.

Cal (6-3) took an early 1-0 lead when Catlin Braucht scored off an assist by Kelli Mirassou less than 15 minutes into the contest. Ohio then tied the score on a goal by Andrea Voros with 5:32 remaining in the first half.

The game remained 1-1 until Ohio broke through with 2:46 left in the first overtime period on a goal by Ali Johnstone.

Cal continues with its Michigan road trip, playing No. 11 Michigan State Saturday and No. 12 Michigan Sunday.

Earlier this year, the Bears lost to No. 10 Iowa, 3-2, and to No. 15 Boston University, 2-1.
