The Cal Athletic Department announced today that the Cal football game at Oklahoma on Saturday, September 19 will be televised live back to Northern California by Fox Sports Bay Area.
The game is scheduled to kickoff off at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (6:00 p.m. in Oklahoma). The announcers tentatively lined up are veteran play-by-play man Joe Fonzi and the color will be handled by former Cal wide receiver Matt Bouza.
With the addition of this game to Cal's TV schedule, it means that three straight games in September will be on television. Cal's game against Nebraska at 4:00 p.m. (PDT) on September 12 is being nationally televised by Fox Sports Net. Barry Tompkins and Tom Tom Ramsey will be the commentators with former NFL lineman Jackie Slater on the sidelines.
Cal's game on Sept. 26 against defending Pac-10 Champion Washington State has been selected by ABC for a regional telecast. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. PDT.
The Bears will also be featured on the tube on October 17 in a 3:30 p.m. game at Washington on the Fox Sports Pac-10 Syndication game. The contest, scheduled for KICU-TV (Channel 36) in the Bay Area will feature Barry Tompkins and David Norrie as the commentators.
In other Cal TV news, a half-hour pre-season special is scheduled to be aired twice this weekend. Fox Sports Bay Area will air the show first on Saturday, August 29 at 5:00 p.m. and will repeat the show on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 4:00 p.m. and again on Friday, Sept. 4 at 12:30 p.m. KGO-TV (Channel 7) will air the show on Sunday morning, August 30, at 11:00 a.m. immediately prior to the Pigskin Classic between USC and Purdue. Tim Sharp will host the show.
Cal's weekly football highlight show will air each Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. this season on Fox Sports Bay Area. It will repeat each Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
