BERKELEY - California looks to snap a two-game losing streak when it travels to the Pacific Northwest to take on Washington and Oregon State in Pac-12 Conference action. The Golden Bears (6-4-1, 1-2-0 in the Pac-12) play the Huskies (7-3-2, 2-0-1 Pac-12) on Friday, Oct. 12, in Seattle in another Pac-12 Networks game and then play the Beavers (6-4-1, 1-2-0 Pac-12) on Sunday, Oct. 14, in Corvallis, Ore.

Cal on TV
Mark Rogondino (play-by-play) and Cobi Jones (analyst) - who called Cal's game at Stanford on the Pac-12 Networks - are the commentators for Cal's game in Seattle. This will mark the Bears' fifth match on conference television. The remaining Cal games that will air on the Pac-12 Networks are the following: Oct. 19 vs. Washington, Nov. 4 at UCLA and Nov. 9 vs. Stanford.

Last Year vs. UW and OSU
Cal tied Oregon State, 2-2, in double overtime on Oct. 14 in Berkeley and then lost to the Beavers, 2-1, on Oct. 21 in Corvallis. Against UW at home, the Bears played their third straight double overtime game and fell, 2-1, on Oct. 16 before the Huskies edged them, 1-0, on Oct. 23 in Seattle.

Scouting the Golden Bears
• Cal dropped a 2-0 match to Stanford in its only game last week
• Friday's match is junior Ryan Moore's first opportunity to play against Washington, his old team; the former Husky forward is in his first season as a Cal defender
• Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Peach, who made four saves against the Cardinal, has compiled a 1.28 goals-against average in 11 starts
• Senior midfielder Tony Salciccia leads Cal in points (11) and ranks second in goals (4) and game-winning goals (2)
• Sophomore forward Stefano Bonomo paces the Bears with a career-high five goals and career-high three game-winning goals and is tied for second in with a career-high 10 points
• Sophomore midfielder Seth Casiple leads Cal in assists (6) and is tied for second in points (10); he collected six assists in 2011 when he was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year
• Talented senior central defenders Steve Birnbaum - a 2011 All-Pac-12 first-team selection - and Ted Jones missed the Stanford game due to injury; Birnbaum has played in just 15 minutes off the bench - in a 5-0 rout of Houston Baptist on Sept. 11 at home - this season, while Jones has not played since the 1-0 win over LMU on Sept. 23 in Berkeley
• Birnbaum scored both of his career goals against Oregon State, including one last year in Corvallis
• Salciccia, Jones and Birnbaum are Cal's co-captains
Kevin Grimes - in his 13th year in Berkeley - has a 137-84-31 all-time record as Cal's head coach

Scouting the Huskies
• Washington brings a four-game unbeaten streak - including an upset of No. 5 UCLA, 2-1, on Oct. 8 - into its match with Cal
• Senior forward and Denver transfer Nate Sakeyfio (14th minute) and freshman defender/midfielder Michael Gallagher (60th) each scored his first goal as a Husky in the win over UCLA
• Junior Spencer Richey, who made five saves against the Bruins, has posted a 0.95 GAA and a .750 save percentage after playing every minute in goal
• Senior defender/midfielder Dylan Tucker-Gangness leads UW in points (14), goals (7) and game-winning goals (2); he has also (successfully) taken both of his team's penalty kicks this year
• Freshman midfielder James Moberg paces the Huskies in assists (4) and ranks second in points (6)
• Jamie Clark is in his second season as Washington's head coach

Scouting the Beavers
• OSU hosts Stanford at 7 p.m. on Friday before welcoming Cal to Paul Lorenz Field on Sunday
• Senior forward Emery Welshman leads his team in goals (7), points (17) and game-winning goals (4); he scored his fourth gamewinner in OSU's last game - a 1-0 win over San Diego State on Oct. 7
• Senior midfielder Roberto Farfan paces the Beavers in assists (6) and is tied with senior midfielder Alex Penny for second on the team in points (8)
• Redshirt freshman goalie Matt Bersano has a 0.81 GAA in 11 starts; he made three saves to earn his first Pac-12 victory against SDSU
• Steve Simmons is in his fourth year as head coach of Oregon State

Cal plays the same two teams again, as the Golden Bears host Washington on Oct. 19 and Oregon State on Oct. 21 at Edwards Stadium.

Bonomo Honored Twice for Heroics Against Duquesne, LMU
College Soccer News and Muscle Milk honored Stefano Bonomo after the Golden Bear scored three goals - including both gamewinners - in Cal's 4-1 rout of Duquesne on Sept. 21 and its Sept. 23 win over Loyola Marymount, 1-0. The sophomore forward earned a spot on the College Soccer News Team of the Week and earned the California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week laurel on Sept. 24.

Bonomo scored twice in Cal's 4-1 rout of Duquesne on Sept. 21 at Edwards Stadium. He scored an eighth-minute goal in the Bears' 1-0 win over Loyola Marymount on Sept. 23 on Goldman Field.

This is the second time that has been Cal honored by CSN and Muscle Milk this season, as senior midfielder Tony Salciccia earned CSN Team of the Week recognition for the week ending Sept. 9 and collected the Muscle Milk award after he scored the winner in the 2-1 season opener against Santa Clara on Aug. 24.

Salciccia Earns CSN Team of the Week Berth
Tony Salciccia scored a goal and collected an assist in Cal's 4-1 win over Central Florida on Sept. 7 to garner College Soccer News Team of the Week recognition. The co-captain scored in the 31st minute to give Cal a 1-0 lead over the Knights. In the 83rd minute, Salciccia slipped a through ball to set up Kyle Marsh for the junior defender's first goal of the season and cap the scoring at 4-1.

Muscle Milk Honors Salciccia After Season Opener
Tony Salciccia scored the game-winning goal and led California men's soccer to victory in its season opener against Santa Clara on Aug. 24, garnering the senior midfielder the second California Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the year.

Grimes Rises to Second on Cal Wins List
Head coach Kevin Grimes moved into second place on the all-time Cal wins list with his 132nd career win against Santa Clara. He moved ahead of Julius Schroeder (131) and behind all-time leader Bob DiGrazia (202). A five-time Pac-10 Coach of the Year, Grimes averaged 10.9 wins per year in his first 12 seasons in Berkeley. His current all-time record stands at 137-83-31.

Birnbaum Garners College Soccer News Honor
College Soccer News named senior defender Steve Birnbaum to its preseason All-America team, the publication announced on Aug. 20. The All-Pac-12 First-Team honoree started 36 games for Cal over the last two seasons and is one of three co-captains for the Bears.

A Golden Olympics for the Golden Bears
A total of 46 Golden Bear athletes, coaches and staff members represented Cal during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and together, they brought home a school-record-tying 17 medals (11 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze). The Bears have won 50 medals over the past three Olympics (16 in 2004, 17 in 2008, 17 in 2012), and they have captured 178 medals all-time (99 gold).

Cal No. 1 Public University in the Country
The University of California is the No. 1-ranked public university in the United States, according to U.S. News and World Report. The faculty has won 22 Nobel Prizes, including nine current members, while 28 alumni have received a Nobel Prize. A National Research Council analysis of U.S. universities concluded that the campus has the largest number of highly ranked graduate programs in the country (48 of 52). Cal also has a long commitment to public service, with more than 4,000 students annually doing volunteer work and more than 3,000 Peace Corps participants all-time.
