Head Coach Joanne Boyle
"I am really happy with the game, the effort, the game plan, and the execution. We obviously need to become a better road team. The pieces are there. We have to keep it moving. Overall it was a great game for everybody."
"We shot the ball with confidence. Mikayla came in and opened it up for us. Sherb shot the ball well outside. Layshia was attacking. D was really posting to get touches. I think the guards delivered it to her for the most part. We finished. We made our first couple of baskets, played well in the first half, and then had momentum."
On extending the playing time of Mikayla Lyles
"Our first group is a good group, but people don't play Eliza, so if I feel like there is a little bit of a grind going, it is nice to bring her in and open it up for us. It gives the other kids easier looks. Trying to go back and forth between her and Eliza depending on what we need."
On the upcoming match up with UCLA
"They are a great team. Much more defensive-minded. Pressing the whole game. A team like that, you just have to take care of the ball. I thought we valued the ball tonight and took advantage of our possessions. We scored 82 points tonight. UCLA is going to be a team that turns up the defense and tries to really create their offense off their defense. They hold teams in the 50's. It is a team that we have to aggressively attack. No one can hide in this game. No one can be standing behind. Everyone has to flash to the ball and be big. And take care of the ball, make good decisions, make big shots, and play good defense."
Freshman guard Lindsay Sherbert
On feeling more comfortable offensively
"I hit my first couple of shots and that got me going. If I don't hit my first couple, I have to stay in the game, doing different things. Tonight, though, they fell."
Sophomore guard Layshia Clarendon
"We are flowing. The basket gets a little bigger when you make your first shot. You get a little more confident. Your teammates are into it. Your fans are behind you. It's always good when you have a good start."
