Caitlin Leverenz Still Queen of the Pool

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - On Friday, Leverenz produced the fastest combined time after the Bears and Mustangs swam in the 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard individual medley. The Tucson, Ariz., product posted the following times today: 100 backstroke (59.34), 100 breaststroke (1:03.35), 100 butterfly (55.92), 100 freestyle (52.20) and 100 IM (57.22).

Leverenz won just one of the five events - the 100 IM - as five different Bears won races. Bates captured the 100 breast (1:03.30), Wilson took the 100 free (50.62), senior Amanda Sims claimed the 100 fly (54:46) and freshman Cindy Tran won the 100 back (55.94).

There was no diving in today's competition.

The Bears hit the pool again at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 25, when they combine with the Cal men in a relay competition at Cal Poly.
