SCOUTING THE PAC-10
During Pac-10 play, Cal faces some of the nation's top teams. Seven of the eight Pac-10 teams are currently ranked in the nation's top 25, and six of those seven teams are in the top 10: UCLA (2/3), Arizona (2/4), Oregon State (6/6), California (7/7), Stanford (8/9), Arizona State (8/9) and Washington (14/14).

Pac-10 schools have won the NCAA title in 17 of the 24 years softball has been an NCAA sport. In 2005, all eight Pac-10 teams made the WCWS regionals for the fourth time ever.

CAL IN THE POLLS
The Bears moved from eighth to seventh in both the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and USA Today/ NFCA rankings this week.

A LOOK AT OREGON
Oregon comes off a 2-0 loss at home to No. 6 Oregon State, Tuesday. Last weekend, Oregon only played one Pac-10 game - a 4-1 loss to Arizona - due to rain. Kayleen Hudson (.358) and Breanne Sabol (.354) lead the Ducks in batting. Amy Harris and Melissa Rice have both made 17 appearances this season. Harris is 8-4 and Rice is 5-3 this season. Last season, the Ducks were eliminated in the NCAA Regional round.

CAL-OREGON HISTORY
The Bears won all three games against Oregon last season, with scores of 6-5 in Eugene, Ore., and 1-0 and 1-0 in Berkeley. The Bears lead the all-time series 63-29.

A LOOK AT OREGON STATE
Oregon State pitcher Brianne McGowan threw a two-hitter and drove in a pair of runs to lead the seventh-ranked Beavers to a 2-0 win at Oregon on Tuesday.

Last weekend, the Beavers went 1-1 to open the Pac-10 season, with a 2-1 win over Arizona and a 3-2 loss against Arizona State in Corvallis, Ore. OSU went 15-0 in the month of March. The Beavers are led by Mia Longfellow, who paces the squad with a .411 batting average. McGowan is 17-2 with a 1.38 ERA this season. She also has the third-highest batting average on the team (.391). Last year, OSU was eliminated in the NCAA Regionals by eventual champion Michigan.

CAL-OREGON STATE HISTORY
Cal went 1-2 against the Beavers in 2005. The Beavers won the first and third games between the teams last season by scores of 6-5 in Corvallis, Ore., and 2-0 in Berkeley. Cal won the second game, 2-1, in Corvallis, Ore. Cal leads the all-time series 58-26.
