The California Golden Bear women's golf team plays in its second tournament of the season, the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship Sept. 24-26 in Franklin, Tenn. The tournament will be held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club Golf Course.
Cal, coming off their second-place finish last week at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, will be playing in a field of 18 teams that includes Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn College of Charleston, Duke, Florida, Georgia, LSU, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Southern California, Stanford, Texas, UCLA and Wake Forest as well as host school Vanderbilt.
Cal will have a different line up this week with three of the same faces and two new ones. Senior Pia Halbig, the Bears' top finisher last week, will be back on the course again. Halbig is ranked No. 61 among individuals in the latest Golfweek rankings. Also returning is junior Daniela Holmqvist. Holmqvist had her best round as a Cal golfer last week, shooting a four-under 68 in the second round. She also had her second Cal career top-10 finish, ending the tournament in eighth place. Also returning for the second week in a row is sophomore Joi Pentin. Last week, in her Bear competitive debut, Pentin shot a one-over 73 in her final round.
Junior Joanne Lee is making her season debut this week. Lee, ranked No. 26 among individuals in the latest Golf Week rankings, led the Bears last season with a 73.6 stroke average. Freshman Nicola Rössler is making her collegiate debut.
The 54-hole tournament on the par-72 6,281 yard course begins on Friday, Sept. 24 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 26. Live Results will be available through Golfstat.
