Gymnastics Squad Falls to Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Senior Danae Phillips placed first on vault and bars to lift the Oregon State gymnastics team to a 193.600-190.025 victory over California on Friday evening at Gill Coliseum.
Phillips scored a career-high 9.95 on bars to win the event for the third time this season. Her 9.725 vault score was her best this season, and her win was the first on the event this year.
Phillips anchored a Beaver bar team that scored a season-high 49.100 as four Beavers set or tied personal bests. Stephanie Bychowski placed second with a career-high 9.90, and Jerra Lopez was third with a career-best 9.80 mark. Annette Taylor tied her personal best of 9.725 to tie for sixth place.
The Beavers also took the top three spots on vault. Phillips placed first, and Megan Murphy-Barcroft scored a 9.675 for second, followed by Lara Degenhardt and Cal's Leila Khoury, who both turned in a third-place 9.625.
Lopez won the floor exercise with a 9.80, and Murphy-Barcroft and Khoury tied for second with a 9.775. Soni Meduna scored a career-high 9.70 for fourth.
Corrie Young took top honors on beam for the second week in a row after scoring a 9.80, and Taylor tied her personal best on beam with a 9.775 that earned her second place.
