BERKELEY - Cal's thrilling 52-49 victory over Virginia Tech in the Insight Bowl earned the fourth-highest TV rating among the 20 postseason football telecasts on ESPN.
The Dec. 26 contest from Phoenix garnered a 3.08 rating, which translates into 2.7 million households.
Washington State's win over Texas in Holiday Bowl had the highest rating at 4.86, followed by Michigan State and Nebraska in the Alamo Bowl, and Arkansas and Missouri in the Independence Bowl.
The other games involving Pac-10 teams that appeared on either ESPN or ESPN2 were 1.76 for the Las Vegas Bowl (Oregon State-New Mexico) and 0.91 for the Silicon Valley Bowl (UCLA-Fresno State).
