COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Coach Collin Pollard and sophomore Thomas Selby place ninth and 12th, respectively, on the three-meter springboard Friday in Colorado Springs.

Mulzet brings the largest diving squad the Golden Bears have sent to the zone qualifying meet. Pollard and Selby's results, though not enough to guarantee a spot to the NCAA championships, places them in strategic contention for a qualifying spot after the final event of the meet - the platform competition.

Pollard, who was Cal's top finisher in all events at the 2013 Pac-12 Diving Championships last week, finished with a total score of 674.05 on the Zone E one-meter. Selby, who was a Pac-12 finalist in this event, finished with 651.30 points. Junior Grayson Huston, competing at his second zone qualifying meet, notched a score of 269.90 to place 23rd, only 10.35 points off of qualifying for the final round. Tyler Pullen, Cal's top finisher at the Pac-12 championships last year, scored 243.10 to place 28th.

Kristian Ipsen of Stanford won the three-meter board with a score of 450.10, winning his second crown in as many days. With his NCAA spot guaranteed by his win on the three-meter springboard, second-place finisher Harrison Jones of Arizona State will pick up the unofficial invitation.

After the two days of competition, there are six remaining qualifying spots. The Bears will compete on the platform Saturday, where they will vie for the last automatic qualifying spot. Official diving selections from Zone E for the 2013 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be announced at the conclusion of the platform competition.
