With today's 55-14 loss to USC, Cal falls to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in the Pac-10. USC improved to 5-5 (4-3 Pac-10) and ended a three-game losing streak to Cal. USC leads the overall series, 55-29-5. The Golden Bears have now lost 12-straight games overall dating back to last season. The Bears last victory came against USC, Oct. 28, 2000.

1959 and 2001 Only Winless Memorial Stadium Seasons
With today's loss, Cal finishes the 2001 season winless (0-6) at home for the second time in school history. The 1959 team finished 0-5. The loss today also was a school record eighth-straight home loss dating back to last season. Cal's last win at home was a 46-38 triple-overtime victory against UCLA, on Oct. 14, 2000.
Cal Surrenders Most Points In Season In School History
Including the 55 points yielded by Cal in today's game, the Bears have surrendered a school record 386 points through 9 games this season. The previous record for most points surrendered in a season had been 380 points over 11 games during the 1973 season. Cal is allowing opponents to score 42.9 points per game, on pace to shatter the school record of 34.5 points allowed per game in 1973.
Bears Score First To No Avail
For the fifth time this season, Cal scored first in the game. Boller's 5-yard TD run came with 12:03 to play in the first quarter and was the fastest TD Cal has scored this season. It was Boller's first TD run of the season.

Charon Arnold's caught his team best third TD of the season to bring Cal within 35-14 in the third quarter. It was Arnold's fifth TD catch of his career.
Ward Develops Into Cal's Big Play Receiver
LaShaun Ward has found his niche over the last three games as Cal's big-play receiver. Ward caught 2 passes today for 62 yards. Overall, he has caught 10 passes for 252 yards this year for a 25.2 average, which is a team-best for yards per catch.
Turnovers Lead to 21 USC Points
USC scored 14 points off of Kyle Boller's two interceptions, including a 58-yard interception for a TD in the second quarter to put the Trojans up 21-7. A fumble in the final minute by the Bears was returned 89 yards for a USC TD.
Bears Defense Forces Two Fumbles
Cal's defense forced USC into two fumbles. In the first quarter, Josh Beckham forced QB Carson Palmer to cough up the ball and Matt Nixon recovered the ball. In the second quarter, Tom Canada forced Palmer into another fumble, which John Klotsche recovered.
