2011 Cal Football: Tedford Post-Practice Interview | SAHPC, Memorial Stadium Taking Shape | Fan Appreciation Day | Outlook | Schedule | Tickets | Gameday Tee

(BERKELEY) - The wake up calls came early on Thursday as Cal went through its second two-a-day session at Witter Rugby Field on its 13th day of the team's 2011 training camp. The Bears' early morning workout was followed by a late afternoon session. Camp will hit the two-week mark on Friday.

One day after an intense practice in full pads that included extensive 11-on-11 work, the Golden Bears used Thursday's practices primarily for individual drills, offensive and defensive polish, and seven-on-seven sessions.

After the first workout, head coach Jeff Tedford addressed the media. Below are some of the topics he spoke about.

The play of the interior linemen during Wednesday's workout ...
"Some of the young defensive linemen are doing really well. There's a lot of things that happened that were good, but the main thing is some of the young defensive linemen are playing really well."

The offensive line depth ...
"That's still being evaluated. We need to get Tyler Rigsbee back in there and get him playing because he has the most experience. He needs to get back in the rotation. From there, we'll figure out who the other guys are."

The inside linebackers ...
"[D.J.] Holt and [Mychal] Kendricks [would be the top inside linebackers], then probably [Robert] Mullins and [Steven] Fanua."

Tailbacks Brendan Bigelow and Dasarte Yarnway ...
"They did okay. Bigelow's still learning, so he has a lot to learn but he's looking better physically. He's getting more comfortable. Dasarte did some good things. I think he's still a little bit limited because of his knee, but he did some good things yesterday and there were some things he could improve on still. That's still in the evaluation process on who the third and fourth backs are going to be."

Tailback C.J. Anderson ...
"Yeah, he did a nice job [yesterday]. He made a couple of really nice runs, kept his balance. He had a long touchdown run. He did a nice job. He's getting in shape."

What he is looking for from Thursday afternoon's workout ...
"The same thing as we always want to see - focus on the details of what we're doing, execution, effort, all the things you look for in every single practice. When you put the pads on or you go in shells, you're really looking to get those things done. Today was a big mental day, we got some good work day. We hit pretty hard yesterday. We went over 100 plays yesterday so this morning was a mental day. This afternoon, we'll put some pads back on and crank it up again."

The Cal football team is currently in the midst of training camp to prepare for the 2011 season. Single-game tickets for the season-opening TicketCity Battle by the Bay at San Francisco's Candlestick Park against Fresno State on Saturday, Sept. 3 are on sale now. The neutral-site season opener for both teams is not part of the Bears' season-ticket package.

Tickets are also on sale for Cal's five home games this season at San Francisco's AT&T Park. Cal will host Pac-12 opponents USC (Thu., Oct. 13), Utah (Sat., Oct. 22), Washington State (Sat., Nov. 5) and Oregon State (Sat., Nov. 12) at the venue after playing Presbyterian in its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Tickets can be purchased online at CalBears.com or by calling the Cal Athletic Ticket Office at (800) GO BEARS.

After playing the last 88 seasons and every home game at Memorial Stadium since the facility opened for the 1923 Big Game, Cal will host its home games outside of Berkeley for the first time in 2011 while Memorial Stadium undergoes an extensive renovation and retrofit.
