For the past three years, Cal's second varsity eight has claimed the national title at the IRA Regatta. This year, the Bears are in position to capture number four. Although they are not the favorites to win it all, the Bears head into the grnad final with confidence.

Sophomore Jordan Mikes is the seven seat in the JV boat. Earlier in the year he helped the Bears go undefeated for the second year in a row at the Windermere Crew Classic. Later, the Bears went on to capture the silver medal at the San Diego Crew Classic and the Pac-10 Championships. Last year, Mikes rowed in the freshman four that placed seventh at the IRAs.
