Graham Ackerman Crowned Floor and Vault Champion at MPSFs

Sophomore Graham Ackerman led the fourth-ranked California men's gymnastics team Saturday evening at the MPSF event championships, being crowned both the floor and vault champion. A Seattle, Wash. native, Ackerman posted a top-drawer team season best 9.700 on the floor and a 9.450 on the vault to win two of the three events he competed in.

Coming off a second place finish Friday evening at the team championships, the Golden Bears sent five individuals to tonight's event championships.

Senior Aaron Floyd tied for second on the high bar with a 9.300 mark after setting a season best 9.350 in Friday's competition. From Mt. Airy, MD., Floyd also placed seventh on the rings (9.150).

Ackerman, who claimed first on the floor and second on the vault last night, also landed a fifth place finish on the parallel bars (8.850) Saturday evening. Junior David Eaton finished eighth on both the p-bars (7.550) and floor (8.100). Defending parallel bars national champion, Cody Moore placed seventh on the pommel horse (8.750) while junior Michael Ashe rallied a 9.400 on the rings to land in sixth place.

California now prepares for the NCAAs, hosted by Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, April 11-13.
