LOS ANGELES - Senior Susie Babos advanced in her first singles match at the 2007 Riviera ITA Women's All-American Tennis Championships today in Los Angeles. Seeded No. 4 in the main draw, Babos defeated William & Mary's Ragini Acharya in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Babos went all the way last year and won the singles title in the 2006 All-American Championships by defeating Fresno State's Melanie Gloria.
Babos will face Florida's Megan Alexander in the second round on Friday. Babos defeated Alexander in the first round of doubles qualifying play along with teammate Stephanie Kusano. The winner of the Babos/Alexander matchup will play again on Friday against the winner of Yasmin Schnack (UCLA)/Aurelija Miseviciute (Arkansas).
