California Head Coach Jeff Tedford

On the comeback:
"I am really proud of our kids; we talked all week about believing and staying together as a team. Three phases of the game that you have to step up and make plays. I am very proud of the way that there was never any quit. People just continued to make plays and play hard, just really proud of them."

On Joe Ayoob's game:
"Joe played very well. The two interceptions that we had were tipped balls, deflected balls, but to hang in there and keep throwing strikes down the stretch, I was real proud of the last few drives that he put together. He threw strikes on all those balls. He is an unbelievable competitor, so mentally tough and physically tough, a great competitor."

On coming out of the game healthy:
"Yeah, for the most part. I think Harrison Smith was the only one who came out of the game with a concussion. Besides that we had a lot of guys who didn't play today. So it was huge for guys to step up. LaReylle Cunningham, you can't say enough about LaReylle Cunningham, a young man who is a walk-on and has just worked hard and stayed prepared and has always had a great attitude. He finally got his opportunity today and made the most of it."

California Players

Joe Ayoob , QB

On this week's game:
"We did a good job. We got out and there and got on the ball. Washington State had a good second half, but we made the big play at the end."

On California making plays:
"Guys on the offensive line really stepped up, allowing me to make good throws and was able to make the plays. LaReylle (Cunningham) really stepped up for the receivers today."

On the win:
"It was very satisfying coming from JC to be able to pull out this win. This is my first time for an exciting win like this."

LaReylle Cunningham, WR

On first collegiate catch:
"It felt good to finally get out and make the plays. I've been waiting my whole life for something like this."

On first collegiate touchdown:
"That was really good, just to get my feet wet with that touchdown. I am just happy I could make the big play."

On the crowd:
"I liked the noise, it was intense. When the defense was on that last drive by Washington State the crowd really got into it and helped."

Washington State Coach Bill Doba

On the loss:
"I don't know. I think our kids played their butts off. We got beat inside on a blitz, and you can't let that happen. Make dumb mistakes. Give up big plays. They fought back, but didn't win."

"You got to win at the end. You got to have more points than the other team."

On California:
"No, there were no surprises. They played well. We knew Lynch and Forsett were good runners. We didn't wrap-up or tackle very well."

On Jason Hill:
"Great receiver. Threw some balls to him and he made some great catches."

On the Cougars:
"They're playing hard. They'll come out and play hard tomorrow, and they'll play hard everyday. It's a great bunch of kids. They just haven't been able to win. Maybe they aren't good enough. I don't have the answer. We've tried everything. We've worked them harder. I don't know. If I knew I'd write a book and make a lot of money."

Washington State Players

Bruce Mkristo, DE

On why Washington State can't hold onto a lead:
"I have no idea, it's not funny. We got the game in our hand and find a way to loose."

On Washington State's reason for allowing their opponents to come back in the last 4 games:
"If there was a reason we would know how to fix it. We were happy being down at halftime, it was something different; we could win. But it didn't work out that way."

On what winning would do for the team:
"All those bumps and bruises would feel better if we were winning."

On the USC game next week:
"Every week is a challenge, but we are going to come out and play some football. It is going to be an exciting game against USC."

Alex Brink, QB

On the third quarter:
"We showed some good determination and made it a game. Jason Hill is a good player and he made big plays."

On Washington State's reason for allowing their opponents to come back in the last 4 games:
"I wish I could tell you. Four weeks in a row; we need to find a way to win. Leads don't mean a lot."

On the team as a whole:
I know we are good enough to win. We could have only lost one game this season. We can play with everybody in the league."
