The No. 6 California women's tennis team (14-4, 5-1 Pac-10) rebounded from a loss yesterday to take a 6-1 win over No. 8 USC (15-6, 3-2 Pac-10) today at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Golden Bears move to 5-1 in the Pac-10 Conference and swept the singles courts for the fourth time this season. Freshman No. 12 Marina Cossou recorded her 25th singles win of the year when she defeated No. 10 Amanda Fink by a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 count to secure the win for the Bears. Cal fell on all three doubles courts to surrender the doubles point to the Trojans. The last time these two teams met in Los Angeles, the Bears won the doubles point but were subsequently swept in singles matches to lose 6-1.

Also getting her 25th win of the year, junior No. 102 Bojana Bobusic was the first Bear off the court when she dropped a 7-5, 6-0 victory on No. 108 Leyla Entekhabi to tie things at one point each. Bobusic's win snapped Entekhabi's 17-match singles winning streak and was the first loss in Entekhabi's career dual match singles record. Bobusic's fellow junior-classman, No. 91 Claire Ilcinkas finished next on court four. After fighting hard for the 6-4 first-set win, Ilcinkas found herself down 5-1 to No. 118 Sarah Fansler. Not giving up, Ilcinkas broke Fansler's serve three consecutive times to edge her Trojan counterpart by a 6-4, 7-5 count.

Senior No. 34 Cristina Visico finished third, getting a 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 71 Gabriela Niculescu to put the Bears up by a 3-1 mark. Cossou sealed the deal for Cal with her win on court two next. Senior No. 16 Susie Babos bounced back from a 6-4 loss in the first set to take the next two by a 6-1, 6-2 count over No. 50 Lindsey Nelson. Babos faced Nelson in the 2006 NCAA Singles Championship match and came away the victor then as well. Fellow senior Stephanie Kusano completed play for the day with her 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 win against No. 115 Maria Sanchez on the fifth court.

The Bears will travel to the state of Oregon next to face the Ducks (12-10, 3-3 Pac-10) on Saturday (April 12) in a noon match at the Student Tennis Center in Eugene, Ore. Please check CalBears.com for updates and information.
