BERKELEY - The 2004 Pac-10 All-Academic team was announced today and five Cal women's tennis players have been selected for honors that recognize their accomplishments in the classroom and on the court. To be selected to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average (GPA) and be a significant contributor to the team.
Cal senior Jieun Jacobs earned first team Pac-10 All-Academic honors for the second year in a row. Including her selection to the second team Pac-10 All-Academic team during her sophomore year, this is the third consecutive year Jacobs has been recognized for being an outstanding student and key member of the Cal women's tennis team. Jacobs carries a 3.61 GPA as a history major.
Fellow senior Nicole Havlicek netted second team Pac-10 All-Academic honors with a 3.38 GPA. The economics major garnered honorable mention honors each of the past two years.
Earning honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic honors were seniors Raquel Kops-Jones, Jody Scheldt, and sophomore Jessica Shu. This is the second time Kops-Jones has received honorable mention honors and the first time Scheldt and Shu have been so recognized.
