Two Golden Bears competing at the World Rowing Championships in Eton, Great Britain - Scott Frandsen and Nitto Simensen - qualified for B finals as a result of their finishes in Thursday's competition.
Frandsen is a member of the Canadian four, which placed fourth in its semifinal race. Canada was second after 500 meters, but was overtaken by Germany and Slovenia. Great Britain won the race in 5:49.94, with Canada crossing the line in 5:55.55. Only the top three boats advanced to the A final.
In the men's pairs, Simensen also finished fourth for his native Norway. Slovenia led from the start and covered the 2000-meter distance in 6:14.34, followed by Poland and Great Britain. Norway was fourth in 6:18.58. As in the fours, the top three went to the A final and the next three to the B final.
