The California women's basketball team looks to sweep a Pac-10 weekend series for the first time all year when it hosts Washington Saturday at 1 p.m. at Haas Pavilion. This is the final home game of the year for the Bears. Saturday is Senior Day presented by Bank of the West with all youth 17 and under being admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Prior to the game, Cal seniors Ami Forney and Janet Franey will be honored.
Forney will be playing in her 93rd career game for the Bears on Saturday, and Franey, a former walk-on, will possibly be playing in her 29th. Forney leads Cal in scoring (11.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 rpg) this year, and Franey is averaging a career-best 1.7 ppg.
The Bears (7-17, 2-13 Pac-10, 9th) are coming off a 76-63 victory over Washington State on Thursday and its first season sweep of the Cougars in nine seasons. Cal shot 46.8 percent and had four players with double-figure points. Meanwhile, the Huskies (15-9, 10-5, 3rd) fell to Stanford, 81-65. Cal looks to avenge an 85-46 loss to Washington in Seattle, Jan. 17, and snap a three-game losing streak to the Huskies. LaTasah O'Keith led the Bears with 10 points in the first meeting this season.
Cal's win over WSU on Thursday featured several Bear milestones:
? Cal tied the school record for three-point percentage in a game (min. 10 attempts) at 72.7 with its 8-of-11 performance.
? Forney posted her fifth double-double of the season and 12th of her career with 13 points and 10 rebounds, along with a career-high seven assists.
? Kristin Iwanaga posted a career-high 18 points to lead the Bears, and now ranks fourth in the Pac-10 for free throw percentage at 84.4 percent.
? Amber White grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.
? Bears improved to 5-0 in games which they have tallied 70 or more points.
Cal wraps up the regular season next week in Los Angeles with games against UCLA Friday and USC Sunday. The game with the Trojans can be seen live on Fox Sports Net. The Bears then will likely face UCLA in the opening round of the Pac-10 Tournament on Friday, March 1, in Eugene, Ore.
