The California Golden Bears women's gymnastics team finished off their Michigan road trip scoring 190.725 points in a tri-meet against Michigan State and Ball State. Michigan State won the meet with a team score of 195.050. Ball State finished second with 191.825.
The Bears posted their best team mark on the floor, with their mark of 48.425 edging Ball State's 47.925. Michigan State won the event with a 49.175. Sophomore Avery Gee had the Bears' top mark on the floor, scoring a 9.800, fourth-best among the individuals.
Senior Bridgette Glass earned her fourth event victory of the season when she scored a 9.850 on the bars, her top score on the bars this season.
Freshman Erica Varon earned a career-high mark for her beam routine, placing second with a 9.825. The mark was Varon's highest of her Bear career on the beam and the highest mark she has scored in any event her rookie season. Varon's previous high was a 9.775 in the home meet against Illinois State and Washington.
Junior Sophia Hocini was again the Bear's most-consistent gymnasts, placing second overall in the all-around with a score of 38.400. Hocini's top mark came in the vault where she earned a 9.700. Senior Joanna Bennett also scored a 9.700 on the vault.
The Bears head back to Northern California where they will close out the regular season next weekend in Sacramento when they compete against Sacramento State, UC Davis and Seattle-Pacific at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13 as their final warm up before the Pac-10 championship.
