BERKELEY -

California Head Coach Mike Montgomery

On the injury updates for Markhuri Sanders-Frison and Jorge Gutierrez
They were all out yesterday. Markhuri's going to be day-to-day, it just comes down to how much he can go. His back stiffens up on him, so we're hoping he can get better and healthier as we move through. Jorge is day-to-day, getting better.

On Oregon
They're very open court. Tajuan Porter can get really hot and make shots from anywhere. He's extremely quick with the ball. Malcolm Armstead is a very good player. He's as good of a guard as there is in many aspects. Michael Dunigan has improved; he's lost a lot of weight. They go to him hard inside and he's able to score consistently. They have a bunch of other guys that, on any given night, can have a big game. They're explosive.

On Tajuan Porter
He's streaky. I think maybe now, they have more people who can score. I don't think anybody is taken by surprise with the fact that he can shoot it deep and shoot it quickly. Maybe they're making a better effort to guard him. His advantage is his quickness, his speed, his ability to get shots off, and that's not going to change very much.

On Oregon State
I think Rickey Claitt was really a key guy for them, playing the point last year. They were able to bring Calvin Haynes into more of a scoring situation. Now, Haynes is required to play the point. It's changed his role a little bit, although he's still a guy that scores a lot of points and is one of the keys to them. I think Roeland Schaftenaar is the real key. He wasn't playing a lot early. He wasn't playing big minutes, and he's really the key in their 1-3-1. He understands it, and he's a good passer and a good shooter. Now, it seems that they're back to a lineup that they had early on. They're so big and they do a great job of slowing passes down and getting hands on balls.

On the two losses to Oregon State last year
The ball didn't go down. We didn't attack it so well here. They kind of took us off-guard here, maybe because of the size. We were much more aggressive there. I think they surprised us here. There, they didn't surprise us; we were much more aggressive. Jorge (Gutierrez) did a great job of attacking, and we were moving along pretty smartly, and then all of a sudden, we couldn't make a shot. We did get a lot of opportunities around the basket, but we didn't complete much or finish much. They ran a little stretch, and the next thing we know, we've got a one-point game and we don't get it. They don't change. They're going to play the same thing over and over. It's probably a little bit easier for them to adjust to you than for you to adjust to them because they're going to do the same thing. They'll figure out where you're trying to go or how you're trying to hurt them, and Haynes came in and hurt us last year.
