At Saturday’s home meet against Nebraska, the California women’s gymnastics team honored gymnasts past and present with Senior Night and Alumni Night. At the meet, CalBears.com caught up with five alumni to discuss their favorite memories from competing with the Blue and Gold.

My most memorable Cal gymnastics moment was getting the acceptance letter and scholarship to Cal. It felt incredible. As soon as my coach picked me up from the airport on my recruiting and we drove down the freeway, I knew this was it. I’m from Wisconsin and it was like a dream. I couldn’t wait to get out of there and come to California.

I loved Senior Night of my senior season, when they announced all of our names in front of everyone at our home meet.

I really enjoyed beating Stanford my freshman year. It doesn’t matter how good they are or we are, beating Stanford is always fun. I also remember a quad meet in my freshman year when we were competing at home, and that was the first time I really felt like I was competing on a team. It went from individual gymnastics and the mentality of “I win,” to “We win.”
Beating Stanford is a good memory. Any time we could beat our archrival would stay in my mind forever.
My best Cal gymnastics memory was hosting the dual meet with the men the first and only time we did it. It felt like we were competing as a more united athletic team. We were good friends outside the gym and it was great to share that experience in the gym too.
