2011 Cal Football: Gameday Guide | Information Guide

(BERKELEY) - Senior wide receiver Marvin Jones is scheduled to be a guest on the Mason and Ireland radio show based in Los Angeles at 4:00 p.m. PT, on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The native of Fontana in Southern California will travel to his home area along with the remainder of the Cal football team to take on UCLA at The Rose Bowl this Saturday, Oct. 29 (4:00 p.m. PT). The contest will be telecast live locally on CSN Bay Area and in the Southern California area on Prime Ticket. Jones reached the 2,000-yard career receiving mark in his most recent game against Utah and moved closer to the school's all-time top-10 in both receptions and receiving yards. He is Cal's active career leader in receptions (134), receiving yards (2,023) and receiving touchdowns (13). The 13 touchdown catches are already tied for eighth on the school's all-time list, while the receptions are only two shy of the top 10 and the receiving yards 24 away from the record book. He has a current streak of 32 straight contests in which he has a reception, every Cal game over the last three years (2008-10). After leading the team in both receptions and receiving yards each of the past two seasons, Jones is having another big campaign in 2011 with 40 receptions, 599 receiving yards and three touchdown catches (all second on the team behind Keenan Allen, who is on pace to set single-season records for both receptions and receiving yards). Jones is on pace himself to easily surpass the career highs of 50 receptions and 756 receiving yards he posted as a 2010 junior, with projected regular-season totals in 2011 of 69 catches and 1,027 receiving yards. Jones' average of 15.1 yards per catch is also second behind Allen among the team's regular receivers and the same as his career average. Jones is fifth in the Pac-12 and 34th nationally with his average of 85.57 receiving yards per contest, while his 5.71 receptions per game rank sixth in the conference and tied for 44th nationally.
