INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - California senior John Dorr swam a time of 2:04.44 to finish seventh in the long course 200-meter individual medley final at the World Championship Trials on Monday at the IU Natatorium.
Golden Bears junior Helen Silver, swimming for her California Aquatics club, took fourth in the consolation final of the women's 200-meter backstroke final to finish 12th overall in a time of 2:15.09.
In the men's 100-meter freestyle preliminaries, Cal freshman William Copeland (California Aquatics) finished 36th in a time of 52.22. Bears junior Evan Lane (California Aquatics) was 39th (52.45), junior Matt Lyon (California Aquatics) was 42nd (52.83) and freshman Joe Whittington (Bakersfield Swim Club) was 43rd (52.84).
The Trials will determine who qualifies for spots on the U.S. World Championships and U.S. World University Games teams this summer. So far, only U.S. Olympian Natalie Coughlin (100 backstroke) has qualified for the World Championships team among the current and former Bears at the Trials.
Day five of the World Championship Trials begins on Tuesday with the women's 100-meter freestyle preliminary. The Trials end this Wednesday.
