Senior golfer Pia Halbig competed at the 2010 World Amateur Team Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, playing for the German National Team.
The tournament, which took place Oct. 20-23, featured a field of 52 three-person teams competing at the Olivos Golf Club and the Buenos Aires Golf Club. Both courses are 6,110 yard par-72's.
Halbig opened the tournament with a one-under 71. She followed with a stellar second round, carding a five-under 67, ranking in the top-10 among individuals halfway through the tournament. She finished off the tournament with a third-round 75 and a closing round 76 to finish the tournament at one over par, tied for 21st place in the field of 155 of the world's top amateur golfers.
Halbbig's German squad finished in the top ten, tying for eighth place with the Phillippines. Korea ran away with the tournament, winning by 17 strokes over the second place team from the United States.
This was Halbig's second time at the World Amateur Team Championships. She was also a member of the German squad in 2008 in Adelaide, Australia where Halbig finished 24th among individuals, shooting an eight-over and the German squad finished in sixth place with Sweden hoisting the Espirito Santo Trophy.
