PROVO, Utah - Senior co-captain Alexander Nissen won his fifth all-around competition of the season and sophomore Tal Moscovitz took home event titles on floor exercise and pommel horse, but the Golden Bears just could not keep pace with 9th-ranked Brigham Young, as the Cougars defeated Cal, 226.05-220.10, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation dual meet in Friday night.
Nissen also finished second on horse, third on rings and third on high bar for the Bears, who fell to 8-9 overall (6-6 MPSF) with the loss. BYU, which posted a season high team total, was led by Courtney Bramwell, who scored a perfect 10.0 to win the rings competiton.
Cal will try to keep its postseason hopes alive March 26-27, when the Bears travel to Norman, Okla., for the 1999 MPSF Men's Gymnastics Championships.
