(BERKELEY) - One day after traveling to San Francisco's AT&T Park for a helmets only practice, the 2011 Cal football team returned to Witter Rugby Field in Berkeley on Wednesday for an intense practice in full pads that included extensive 11-on-11 team sessions.

"There was good in everything that we did," head coach Jeff Tedford said. "We have a lot of things to learn from, obviously, a lot of guys did some good things. Everybody played a little bit today to try to get their feet wet."

The second and third-teamers saw most of the reps on Thursday, with most of the first-teamers playing for just one series.

"We're trying to really get a look at the younger guys," Tedford said.

Some of the highlights of Wednesday's workout included ...

The neutral-site season opener for both teams is not part of the Bears' season-ticket package.

Cal will host Pac-12 opponents USC (Thu., Oct. 13), Utah (Sat., Oct. 22), Washington State (Sat., Nov. 5) and Oregon State (Sat., Nov. 12) at the venue after playing Presbyterian in its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 17.
