Stanford Defense Shuts Down Cal, 3-0

STANFORD - The Golden Bears (2-5) were routed by Stanford (5-2), 3-0, in the Bears first NorPac Conference game of the season Saturday afternoon. Stanford, the conference's leading team, limited Cal's offense to one shot, a penalty corner by sophomore back Deborah Clark in the second half.

The Cardinal, on the other hand, managed 15 shots, with Lindsey Dunagan scoring their first goal at 20:30 on the clock in the first half. Justina Williams and Carey Cloyd brought the Stanford lead to 3-0 in the second half, at 13:32 and 4:55 respectively.

The Bears open their NorPac record at 0-1, while Stanford improves theirs to 2-0. The Bears will face St. Louis next Thursday, Oct. 1 in their second conference game this season.
