Berkeley, Calif. - Sophomore catcher Haley Woods led the Bears to a UNLV Tournament sweep last week, as they improved their record to 11-0, and was named USA Softball Player of the Week for her performance. Woods hit .600 (9-15) over the five game stretch including four home runs and 17 RBI.
"Haley just had a tremendous performance at the plate this week," said head coach Diane Ninemire. "She was just seeing the ball really well. Our team has done a good job of setting the table for her."
Her most impressive game at the plate came against No. 12 DePaul. Woods went 3-3, launching two homers and accumulating 7 RBI.
On the season, Woods is now batting .353 (12-34) with a team leading four home runs and 18 RBI.
