TEMPE, Ariz. - First-round play at the PING/ASU Invitational at Karsten Golf Course has been suspended until Saturday morning due to inclement weather. Teams will take the course at 7:30 a.m. MT to finish the first round. The second round will begin immediately following the first round using the same hole assignments and pairings as used on Friday morning. The third round is set for Sunday.
Thunderstorms are expected throughout the weekend.
No. 5 California, which is the defending champion, is in a tie with Arizona for ninth place at plus-three. Golden Bear golfers have finished between six and nine holes. Golfers for the 17 teams have played between 0-9 holes, so it's hard to predict how the first round will end.
No. 2 UCLA is currently in a tie for first with tournament-host Arizona State at even-par. The Bruins have completed three holes each, while the Sun Devils are between 6-9.
Cal senior Sarah Huarte posted a minus-one over the first nine holes on the par 72, 6230-yard course. Sophomore Sofie Andersson is at even-par through nine holes. Sophomore Sophia Sheridan is at plus-one through six holes. Seniors Claire Dury and Anna Temple are at plus-three through nine holes. Cal freshman Danielle Nash, who is competing as an individual, hasn't teed off yet.
