BERKELEY - Senior Javier Ayala-Hil was instrumental in all three goals during Sunday's showdown with UCLA for first place in the Pac-10, scoring one and assisting on the other two to earn the senior this week's nod for Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week.
Hil was already being honored with his two classmates on the men's soccer team at Senior Day before the battle against the Bruins began, and the graduate of Menlo Park-Atherton High School responded in style, leading the Golden Bears to a victory that also helped California rise to No. 17 in this week's Soccer America poll.
The Bears entered the weekend in third place in the Pac-10 but defeated second-place San Diego State, 1-0, on Friday to set up the match-up with UCLA for the top spot in the conference .
