LAS VEGAS - The Cal softball team improved to 10-2 on the year with a pair of wins at the UNLV Softball Classic Saturday afternoon.

In their first game, the Bears blanked Utah State, 4-0. Freshman pitcher Jocelyn Forest upped her record to 3-1 by tossing a five-hitter and striking out 13.

In the second game, Cal crushed Bowling Green, 9-1, in a game shortened to six innings due to the mercy rule. Senior shortstop Katie May had a key double in a five-run second inning, while senior Holly Yost struck out six on her way to her fourth win of the year.

Cal opened the tournament by splitting its two games Friday, defeating Loyola Marymount, 10-2, but falling to host UNLV, 6-2. The Bears wrap up the three-day event by playing Cal Poly SLO Sunday afternoon.
