BERKELEY - The Dec. 22 matchup between California and Kansas at Allen Field House in Lawrence, Kan., will be televised on ESPN2 with the tipoff set for 6 p.m. (PT) as announced by the network recently.
The Golden Bears will be looking for their fourth win against the Jayhawks in school history as Kansas currently owns the season series at 14-3.The last time these teams met was in 2005, when Kansas defeated the Bears, 69-56. The 1954-55 season was the last time Cal defeated the Jayhawks, a 65-62 victory in Kansas City, Mo.
This is the second gametime set for the 2009-10 season, as it was announced on Aug. 20 that Cal will face Syracuse at 4 p.m. (PT) in the Nov. 19 semifinals of the championship rounds of the 2009 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer men's college basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y.
In the Bears' home tournament, the Golden Bear Classic, the first-round pairings were recently set for the two-day tournament held at Haas Pavilion. Cal will square off against Utah Valley University in the first round on Dec. 28, while UC Santa Barbara and Furman will meet in the other semifinal contest. The tournament final will take place the next day. Tip times have not been decided yet for those games.
