Head coach Joanne Boyle quotes:
I thought it was a great game, somewhat ugly on offense. We're finding that we are becoming a team that is very committed to the defensive end of the court. We've been working on that and making a commitment to that. We just need to break it open offensively like [we did] the last five minutes of the game. It's a very similar game to what it was down at Riverside. If we're going to continue to focus on the defensive end and rebound, we're going to have to figure out a way to grind out points without Dev. It's a work in progress.
I think having 10 turnovers in the first half hurt us. We had 15 shots in the first half, so we didn't have any position to get Lexi scores. That's going to be a focus here in the next couple of days. We're not patient. We've always been a great high-low team, and without Devanei, I think we're forcing it right now. We're just trying to create the high-low and it's just not there. We've been preaching that if it's not there, just be confident and comfortable that we will get it if we run 20 seconds and run through some stuff. I think at practice this week, we're not allowed to score within the first 20 seconds of the shot clock.
On Cal's press:
We were dragging a little bit. We're very confident in that press. We've just got to get it down to if we've got to press for five full minutes that we can do it.
On Alexis Gray-Lawson hitting shots late in the game:
Two weeks in a row. If she's got to save them until the last five minutes, I'm not going to let her shoot until then if this is what's going to happen. Lexi hits big shots down the stretch.
