TUCSON, Ariz. -
Head Coach Joanne Boyle
"Arizona was really prepared," said Cal head coach Joanne Boyle. "They are going to beat up on some people this year. They took us out of our game plan. They really crashed the boards. They made us work for everything we got down the stretch."
"Casey Morris saved us tonight. If it weren't for Casey, we would have been down 20 at the half. I think you are just now starting to see what Casey is capable of. She's a freshman. She's starting to gain some confidence. She's starting to figure it all out. It's hard to learn a system and come in as a freshman, especially as a point guard. The last couple of games she has done a really good job."
"I think where we did a good job tonight was playing the zone and mixing things up a bit. Where we did a poor job was keeping them off the boards. That's a chance you take with zone. They were quicker and more aggressive to the ball than we were."
"We need Ashley (Walker) to be able to extend the defense. The thing she didn't have last year was an outside shot. This year it has been money for her. She has really raised her game. She has worked on it. She's confident with it. She's in the gym working on it. When people work on their game, good things happen."
