Women's Gymnastics Comes Home to Host UC Davis

BEARS FACTS AND STATS: The California's women's gymnastics team (6-8, 0-8 Pac-10) is ranked sixth in the Western Region and No. 43 in the nation...the Bears have a 2-4 record in February after losing to Arizona, UCLA, Washington and Stanford and defeating Illinois-Chicago and UC Santa Barbara...Helene Kenny is the lone Bear in the national individual rankings with a 9.840 average on the bars for a 10th-place standing... Pari Olver is probable for Friday's meet against Davis after being sidelined with a knee injury the past three weeks....seven Pac-10 universities have women's gymnastics programs and six are ranked in the Top 25 nationally, making the Pac-10 one of the most competitive conferences in the country.

CAL CRUISES TO VICTORY OVER UCSB: The Bears recorded their second-best score of the season to easily defeat the Gaunchos, 190.150-185.175, and snap a two-meet losing streak. Cal swept the top three places in the beam and floor events. Leila Khoury placed first on the floor (9.85) and vault (9.550) and placed third on the beam (9.700) en route to a team season-high all-around total of 38.575 to earn first place. Jennie Kang won the beam event with a 9.825 and placed third on the floor with a career-high 9.725 to place second in the all-around with a career-high 38.375 point total. Emily Bails also turned in a solid performance for the Bears, setting 1998 personal bests on the beam (9.8) and floor (9.75) to take second-place in both events.

ABOUT THIS WEEK'S OPPONENT: UC Davis is ranked 10th in the Western Region with a 9-3 record. The Aggies have won seven straight meets as a team, with the most recent victory (186.525) acquired over Air Force (185.475) and Centenary (177.800) on March 1. UC Davis' season-high of 188.750 came on Feb. 14 against Sacramento State. The Aggies are led by Freshmen Brianne Bray and Jennifer Wong, who are ranked Nos. 32 and 33, respectively, in the Western Region all-around standings. Wong's 38.225 all-around total on Feb. 21 tied her for 10th on the Aggie all-time list.

HEAD TO HEAD WITH THE AGGIES: Cal leads the all-time series with UC Davis, 12-1. The Bears defeated the Aggies last season, 190.425- 185.325.
