FEDERAL WAY, WASH. - Cal divers Thomas Henninger and Bobby Sullivan concluded the 2010 Pac-10 Diving Championships Saturday, Feb. 27 in Federal Way, Wash. with Henninger placing eighth in the one-meter board with a score of 314.65 Friday, Feb. 26, after finishing seventh on the three-meter competition with a mark of 302.45 on Thursday.
Both divers dove in the platform competition Saturday with sophomore Sullivan finishing the prelims with a score of 247.45 and junior Henninger scoring 212.15.
Henninger gave the No. 4-ranked Cal men's swimming and diving team some points towards a conference championship by making the finals of both the one and three-meter competition. From Glenside, Pa., Henninger had scored a 323.70 in the preliminary rounds of the three-meter to advance to the finals. In the finals, he tallied mark of 302.45 to place seventh. In the one-meter, he scored 283.30 points in the prelims before finishing with 314.65 to secure an eighth place finish.
Sullivan, from Chelmsford, Mass., had scored a 205.30 in the prelims of the one-meter board and 255.20 in the prelims of the three-meter board.
The Cal men's swimmers are currently preparing for the 2010 Pac-10 Swimming Championships, March 3-6, at the Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach, Calif. The Bears are led by junior Nathan Adrian, the 2009 Pac-10 Swimmer of the Year who is the defending conference champion in the 50, 100 and 200 free. Cal also returns defending 2009 Pac-10 champions Damir Dugonjic (100 breast), Nolan Koon (200 breast) and Martti Aljand (200 IM), plus members (Dugonjic, Graeme Moore, Adrian) of the 200 and 400 medley relays.
