TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Cal junior wide receiver Keenan Allen was named Tuesday to the watch list for the Biletnikoff Award that annually recognizes the best receiver in college football. Allen has been Cal's most decorated player prior to the 2012 season, earning nearly unanimous preseason All-American accolades and is also on several national watch lists including the Maxwell Trophy given annually to college football's top player.

Allen was one of 10 national semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award in 2011 when he caught 98 passes for 1,343 receiving yards and six touchdown catches, with the receptions and receiving yards both ranking second on Cal's all-time single season lists behind school record holders Dameane Douglas (100 receptions in 1998) and Geoff McArthur (1,504 receiving yards in 2003). He returns the fourth-highest per-game averages from 2011 of all active Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players for both receptions (7.54) and receiving yards (103.31).

Allen has career totals of 144 receptions, 1,833 receiving yards and 11 touchdown catches in two seasons at Cal. His 144 career receptions are only 58 shy of all-time school leader Geoff McArthur's career total of 202 from 2000-04, while he will start the 2012 season 1,355 yards short of McArthur's career total of 3,188.

The award is named for Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the pro and college football halls of fame, and an All-Pro and All-American receiver with the Oakland Raiders and Florida State.
